What do Australians like to drink?
In a 2019 survey, 12.8 percent of respondents said they consumed beer, wine, or other alcohol. The same survey also revealed a preference for wine; with 11.8 percent of survey respondents selecting it as their preferred drink of choice. By comparison, 8.9 percent said they preferred to consume beer.
Alcohol retail in Australia
The turnover of the alcohol industry in the country has seen a year on year upward trend; in 2018, it reached 12.14 billion Australian dollars, an increase of around four billion Australian dollars from 2010. Examining beer retail specifically, in 2019 around forty percent of Australian adults said they spent between 26 and 50 Australian dollars per week on beer.
